SOME NOTEABLE SHOTS PLAYERS
Steve Claridge

Steve joined the Shots from Crystal Palace in October 1988, initially on loan although the Shots eventually paid a bargain £15,000 for his services. Due to the clubs troubled financial position he was sold to Cambridge United for a mere £50,000 in January 1989 after making 62 league apps scoring 19 goals. He has made several big money moves and his other clubs include Luton Town, Leicester City, Wolves, Portsmouth and Millwall.


Chris Powell

Chris only played with Shots for a loan spell making 11 appearances during the 1988/9 season, signing from Crystal Palace. The club were keen to sign him but alas finances again proved the stumbling block. After returning to Palace he subsequently joined Southend and then onto a highly successful career with Derby County and Charlton Athletic where he has become a full England International.


Terry Mancini

Aldershot signed Terry from Arsenal in September 1976, his previous clubs included QPR and Leyton Orient.


Teddy Sherringham

Teddy obviously learned a lot in his brief loan spell with the Shots, going on to have a distinguished career with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United & England. Winning virtually every major trophy the Premiership Championship, FA Cup and Champions League. He joined the Shots from Millwall in February 1984 making five appearances.


Neil Warnock

Neil joined the Shots from Scunthorpe during the 74/5 season and went on to make 37 league outings before moving on to join Barnsley. However it was in management where Neil has excelled firstly with non-league Burton Albion where a memorable cup run also included victory against the Shots during 1984/5. He later managed Scarborough leading them to the Conference title and league football plus spells at Notts County and Sheffield United.


Peter Scott

Peter is the sole player to have gained a full international honours while a player with the club. He played in Northern Ireland's 1979 match against Scotland at Hampden Park, taking his international total to 10 games. Started his career with Everton making a number of first team appearances. Joined York City then in Division Two (now One), and stayed with the club as it played in divisions 2, 3 & 4 in successive seasons. Joined the Shots in March 1979 and made 121 league outings in Red & Blue.


Martin Foyle

Joined the Shots for £20,000 from Southampton in August 1984, and was to finish the season as the clubs leading scorer. Martin made nearly 98 league appearances scoring 35 times before eventually joining Oxford United for a then club record fee of £140,000 in March 1987. Then moved to Port Vale following a £375,000 transfer.


Andy King

Andy signed for the Shots from Wolves for the start of the 1986/7 season and was an important member of the promotion winning side. The Shots finishing in sixth position but gained promotion via the newly introduced two leg play-offs beating Bolton in the semi-final and Wolves in the Final. Persistent injury saw him forced to retire during the following season without a making another league appearance.
